Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. The 2030 goal is to ensure access to safe and affordable housing. The named indicator to measure progress towards this goal is the proportion of the urban population living in slums or informal settlements. Between 2000 and 2014, the percentage decreased from 39% to 30%. However, the absolute number of people living in slums has increased from 792 million in 2000 to an estimated 880 million in 2014.
